BetterSEQTA+ (or BQ+) is an organisation dedicated to improving the SEQTA LMS, widely used in schools across Australia and internationally. I joined the project in 2025, began submitting improvements, and eventually became part of the core development team.

Projects

BQ+ Browser Extension — The primary project, and the root of the BetterSEQTA organisation; a browser extension that reimagines the SEQTA experience for students across the globe, with a full UI refurbish, stunning themes, and advanced plugins.
DesQTA — A sleek, cross-platform desktop and mobile app, representing the next evolution of BQ+. Opens the door for more advanced features and a more seamless experience. Featuring a modern UI, offline access, grade analytics, and much more, DesQTA takes everything BQ+ stands for and pushes it further.
Teach Suite (name not yet decided) — An upcoming mobile app and BQ+ extension support for teachers, currently in active development. SEQTA Teach is widely regarded as a clunky and frustrating experience for educators, and this project aims to change that with a streamlined interface, quality of life improvements, and powerful plugins.

Takeaways

Working with a talented team, upkeeping a wide variety of projects, and engaging with a passionate community has been an incredible experience. The project has taught me a lot about open-source development, project management, and community engagement, and I’m excited to continue contributing to the BetterSEQTA ecosystem for years to come.
